On 8th June 2026, the National Election Committee (NEC) organized a one-day training course for the chiefs, members, technical officers of the Provincial/Capital Election Secretariats (PESs) and NEC officials on "Estimated Population Statistics Record and Utilization of Management Program for Population Statistics, Location of Polling Station and Voter Registration Office" for Voter Lists Revision and Voter Registration 2026 at the NEC Headquarters.
On the occasion of presiding over the closing ceremony of the training course, H.E. Mr. Tep Nytha, the NEC Secretary General said, "the official voter lists 2026 will be used for the Election of Commune/Sangkat Councils in the 6th mandate 2027. Therefore, to ensure the voter lists revision and voter registration 2026 to be conducted with good results during the preparation phase, the NEC shall prepare estimated population statistics record as well as determine the number and location of voter registration offices and polling stations more accurately in order to plan voter registration, human resource requirements, and the requirements for materials, equipment, and other documents in a highly efficient and saving manner.
Based on the previous experience and the situation of the Thai military invasion into the sovereign and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Cambodia, His Excellency Secretary General informed that the NEC issued new instructions by modifying the procedures, formulas, and methods for computing estimated population statistics records in villages, communes/Sangkat to be more accurate, and determined the principles for estimated population statistics record in the areas affected by the Thai military invasion and in refugee centers, including other necessary measures.
Before announcing the closing of the training course, H.E. Mr. Tep Nytha reminded the technical General Departments and Departments that after all PESs have calculated the figures and transferred the data via computerized programs to the NEC, they shall collaborate with the National Institute of Statistics or/and relevant authorities to verify and align the estimated population statistics to be consistent before submitting a request to the NEC for review and approval, aiming to ensure that the estimated population statistics for the implementation of the voter lists revision 2026 plan to be more accurate.
It is worth informing that the voter lists revision and voter registration i nationwide will take place from October 7th to November 30th, 2026.
